Cedarvale

Cedarvale has long been recognized for its strong connection to the Cedarvale Ravine which winds through the centre of the community. The ravine itself was once threatened by the Allen Road extension (then called the Spadina Expressway) but was saved after strong opposition voted against such a move. Fortunately strong opposition to the expressway was voiced throughout the city and in 1974 the decision was made to stop the Spadina Expressway (officially called the W.R. Allen Road ) at Eglinton Avenue, thus preserving the centrepiece of this popular Toronto neighbourhood.

Cedarvale sits between Bathurst Street on the east, Winnett Avenue on the west, Eglinton Avenue on the north and St. Clair Avenue to the south. Many of the older homes in Cedarvale range in style from Tudor to Georgian and sit on large mature lots. There is also a plentiful mix of smaller, starter homes and multi-plex apartments. Area residents enjoy quick access to shopping along Eglington Avenue West and can stroll easily, selecting from; fashion boutiques, bakeries, restaurants and professional services.

The Cedarvale Ravine itself is a large draw for those seeking to walk through its beautiful trails. Part of the historic Beltway Line Railway path, it can be accessed via Ava and Everden Roads. Cedarvale Park located at the north end of the ravine offers local residents a multi-use recreational space that includes tennis courts, playing fields and the Phil White indoor ice arena.
