The neighbourhood of Chaplin Estates has always been recognized as one of Toronto's most eminent and exclusive conclaves. Situated close to transit and surrounded by rich parkland, Chaplin Estates is a very attractive location for homeowners. Chaplin Estates is situated south of Eglinton Avenue West, bounded by Yonge Street on the east and Avenue Road on the west. Chaplin Crescent defines the southern border.

The subdivision of Chaplin Estates was first registered in 1913 by William Chaplin and his son James who had been landowners in the area since 1860. The neighbourhood was planned and marketed as a luxurious residential district with strict building restrictions and zoning by-laws enforced to protect its development. For instance, semi-detached homes were not allowed in the new subdivision. Lot prices at the time ranged from $500 to $9,000 and most were purchased between 1921 and 1925 with the majority of homes built in the 1920's and 1930's. Eglinton Avenue West provides area residents with a multitude of shopping experiences. Fashion boutiques, glitzy restaurants and gourmet food shops abound.

For those interested in fitness, the North Toronto Memorial Community Recreation Centre at 200 Eglinton Ave. West offers both an indoor and outdoor pool, water slides, a gymnasium, a walking track, and exercise rooms. Eglinton Park, next to the community centre provides a baseball diamond, tennis courts, a wading pool and an artificial ice hockey rink. The beautiful Beltline trail is easily accessed from the south end of the neighbourhood.
Davisville and Eglinton Avenue subway stations are within walking distance and bus routes line Yonge Street, Eglinton Avenue, Oriole Parkway, and Chaplin Crescent. The drive downtown is a quick and motorists can communte in less than twenty minutes.
