Rosedale has remained one of Toronto's most distinguished neighbourhoods for the past 160 years. The neighbourhood was originally founded in the 1820's by Sherriff William Jarvis Botsford (who also co-founded Yorkville). His wife Mary named the property as a tribute to the plentiful wild roses that graced its lands. Development of the South Rosedale subdivision began after Botsford sold the family homestead in 1864. In 1909, after the bridge over the Park Drive Ravine was built, development of North Rosedale was soon started.

Trivia buffs might be thrilled to learn that prior to the development of North Rosedale, its lands had been the home of the Rosedale Golf Club and also hosted theCanadian Football League's first Grey Cup game. Both South and North Rosedale are designated as heritage districts within the City of Toronto. Rosedale is located just north of Bloor Street, only a few minutes from many major downtown restaurants, shopping and attractions. It is bordered on the north by the CPR tracks, east by Bayview Avenue and west by Yonge Street.

The neighbourhood was designed to flow around rich and plentiful parks, paths and ravines. It offers a wonderous blend of old and new homes, with stately Victorian, Georgian and Tudor mansions priced from just over $2 million dollars to as much as $10 million. There is also a tremendous opportunity to build new homes on beautiful tree-lined lots. The growing community of Rosedale has seen a more modern look with construction of both contemporary, and luxury condominium buildings.
For those with a penchant for shopping, both Yonge Street and Summerhill Avenue offer residents a multitude of trendy shops and restaurants to chose from including, The Summerhill Market, LCBO and Summerhill Nursery & Floral.
